Dialogue in Poland

Community based dialogue practises

In March 2024 we participated the conference on dialogue practises in Poland, as part of the ‘How to Talk?’ project. This even took place in Warsaw and brought together 60 practitioners from different fields working on promoting group dialogue on Polish schools, communities and public places.

Bart Cosijn gave a presentation about our experiences of working in community schools in Estonia. He talked specifically about the Philosophy for Children method. This approach does not teach the theory of philosophy. In stead it supports children and students to formulate their own fundamental questions and explore them in a community of inquiry. This means participants delve into questions trough group dialogue.

Other presenters were Christiane Seehausen from the Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue from Norway. She talked about working with dialogue in situations of particular mistrust, polarization, high emotions. Jacek Królikowski, Chairman of the Board of the Information Society Development Foundation (FRSI), spoke as well. The conference was organised by trainer and dialogue expert Maciej Sopyło in collaboration with FRSI.
