Meeting with People, Easy or a Burden?
As part of the Arvamusfestival (Opinion Festival) in Tartu in 2024 we organised a public dialogue titled ‘Meeting with People, Easy or a Burden?’
Connecting with those around us is a basic human need. We want to talk and be heard, to be felt and to be loved. But meeting and communicating with others is often not easy. We might have very different expectations or cultural backgrounds. Maybe we don’t like small talk. Or we are too direct. Perhaps we rather talk online. We explored these questions in an open dialogue about communicating with others in Estonia.
The guests of the dialogue were:
- Elis Seppius (Educational psychologist, therapist, journalist and sauna master, keeping the Estonian smoke sauna tradition alive)
- Reijo Väljak (Tourism and sales expert, former coach and self-management teacher)
- Olena Kozmenko (Doctor of pedagogical sciences at East Ukrainian National University, and coordinator of Ukrainian children-refugees in Kadrioru Saksa Gümnaasium in Tallinn)
The dialogue was facilitated by Kadi Jaanisoo (TV host/editor, moderator, therapist, trainer) and Bart Cosijn (founder Estonian Dialogue Academy).
