At the Estonian Dialogue Academy work by a set of guiding principles. These principles are not set in stone. We constantly improve and update them based on new insights, experiences and lessons learned.
1. Short and long term
We respond quickly to what happens in society and in our direct surroundings. At the same time we think long term, focussing on your believes as an organisation. (read more about our Voice & Values)
2. Inclusive and non-hierarchical
Good ideas come form everyone and from all directions. We value initiative, regardless of someone’s role. Criticism of the content and direction of our work is crucial to our improvement.
3. Method and improvisation
We work with a variety of dialogue, group conversation and critical thinking formats. Most important for us that a chosen method fits the goals. There is not one truth and we adjust constantly. At the same time clear and explainable formats help empowering communities and creating concrete results.
4. Initiate and collaborate
We do not operate in a vacuum. Our partners and the people we work with are very dear to us. The best work happens in groups with shared passions. We both initiate projects based on our own ideas and we participate in initiatives of others.
5. Balance and sustainable
We focus on building and maintaining a healthy organisation, both in our team and financially. A good balance between working with non-profit partners, institutions and governments on the one hand, and companies and commercial clients on the other hand is essential for our durability.
